Aster is a Greek word meaning "star", as in star-like blossoms. Legend says that it was created from stardust when Virgo looked down from the heavens and wept.
Aster is also known as Daisy Aster, Michaelmas Daisy, Ragweed, September Kraut, September Weed, Single Aster, White Alaska, White Wonder and Wild Daisy.
Asters are daisy-shaped flowers, single or double bloom, ¾ - 2 inches across, usually with a yellow center. Stems consist of numerous flowers blooming from the end of laterals. Stem length varies between 12 and 36 inches (30 - 90 cm).
